At Kitay Law Offices, community engagement is more than just a principle; it’s a core part of our identity. We believe in investing in the next generation, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. True to this commitment, our firm recently had the honor of participating in a Human Resources (HR) panel at Wyomissing Area Junior-Senior High School, offering students a direct line to career readiness advice from local business leaders.
This initiative aligns with our values of being “Stronger Together” and “Committed to Excellence.” By sharing our professional insights with young minds, we aim to build a stronger community and empower the professionals of tomorrow. The event provided a valuable platform for students to learn practical skills that will serve them well as they prepare to enter the workforce.
On November 6, 2025, Wyomissing Area Junior-Senior High School hosted an HR panel for its junior students. The event brought together a diverse group of hiring managers from various local businesses to share their expertise on navigating the modern job market. The goal was to bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world career expectations, giving students a head start in their professional journeys.
The panel was designed to be an interactive session where students could ask questions and receive candid advice on everything from building a resume to making a lasting impression during an interview. By connecting students with local employers, the school created a meaningful opportunity for mentorship and practical learning that extends far beyond a textbook.

Her contributions not only refined the discussion but also underscored the vital role local professionals play in shaping the future workforce and inspiring the next generation.
The panel discussion covered several critical topics for career readiness. The hiring managers provided students with actionable tips and highlighted common pitfalls to avoid. Here are some of the key areas that were explored:
A resume is often the first impression a potential employer has of a candidate. The panel emphasized the importance of creating a clean, professional, and error-free document. They advised students to highlight relevant experiences, even those from part-time jobs or volunteer work, and to tailor their resumes to each specific job application.
Effective communication is a skill that is highly valued in any workplace. Panelists discussed the nuances of professional communication, from writing clear and concise emails to articulating thoughts confidently during an interview. They stressed the importance of active listening and being respectful in all interactions.
The old adage “dress for the job you want” still holds true. The panel offered practical advice on appropriate interview attire, explaining that a polished appearance demonstrates professionalism and respect for the opportunity. They noted that what constitutes “professional” can vary by industry, so it’s always wise to research the company culture beforehand.
References can play a crucial role in the hiring decision. Students were advised to choose their references carefully, selecting teachers, coaches, or previous employers who can speak to their work ethic and character. The panel also reminded students to always ask for permission before listing someone as a reference.
The hiring managers shared insights into common mistakes that can hinder a candidate’s chances. These included everything from simple typos on an application to a lack of preparation for an interview. By shedding light on these frequent errors, the panel aimed to help students present themselves in the best possible light.
Hope added, “It’s rewarding to see students absorb this information. A simple tip, like how to properly follow up after an interview, can make a significant difference. Our goal is to empower them with the confidence and practical skills to pursue their career goals effectively.”
